I love receiving emails from my readers, even if it’s simply to say Hello. However, if you’d like to ask me a question, please check out the list of FAQs below to see if you’re able to find the answer. If you still would like to drop me a line, feel free to email me at wita[at]designisyay.com
CAN I GUEST BLOG FOR DESIGN IS YAY?
I only accept guest posts from bloggers who I have been in touch with and shares the similar kind of style and passion with me.
HOW CAN I COLLABORATE WITH DESIGN IS YAY?
Design is Yay is always open to collaborating with brands and business whose style and aesthetics are in line with ours. Whether it’s having something created by us for your business, a sponsored post or hosting a giveaway for your products. As each collaboration is different, the best way is to email me at wita [at] designisyay.com to discuss your project, and we’ll go from there!
MAY WE FEATURE YOUR PRINTABLE FREEBIES AND DIYs ON OUR BLOG/SITE/MAGAZINE?
I always LOVE being featured in other blog/site/magazine. Feel free to post images from my blog, as long as there a credit and link back to the full article on my site. However, I would greatly appreciate that you don’t distribute any of my free PDF/JPG downloads from your site, but rather link back to my original article page (not directly to the PDF/JPG file) so that you readers can download it from MY blog. Thank you :)
CAN YOU PLEASE TWEAK YOUR FREEBIE DESIGN ACCORDING TO MY PREFERENCE?
Unfortunately no, I have a full time job as a graphic designer, and tweaking freebie designs for every reader who make that request will take up my working hours to do so. Even if you only request a minor tweak, these all add up. I hope you can understand that I would rather spend that time creating new content for Design is Yay.
CAN YOU DESIGN SOMETHING FOR ME, FREE OF CHARGE? IT’S A VERY EASY JOB
Design requires a lot of time and dedication, and design is what I do professionally. I will never call design jobs easy, although it is a very enjoyable one. If you have your own services to offer (web coding/photography/etc), I might consider a barter. Otherwise, you can have a look at my affordable graphic design services in my portfolio website.
I HAVE DOWNLOADED YOUR FREEBIE, BUT WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT ON ILLUSTRATOR OR PHOTOSHOP TO EDIT SOME OF THE CONTENTS, IT REQUIRES PASSWORD
That’s because I password-protect my pdf files. You are not allowed to make changes to any of my freebie files. The only way to open the freebie files is using Adobe Reader, and they are meant for printing only.
HOW DO YOU CREATE YOUR PRINTABLES, WHAT KIND OF SKILLS OR SOFTWARES DO I NEED TO HAVE TO MAKE MY OWN?
I create most of my freebies by sketching the illustration and layout ideas first, and then scan and re-create them using vector tool in illustrator. So you need to have and be able to use Adobe Illustrator. I rarely use Photoshop for my freebies. If you’re a newbie in design and would like to learn a few skills in illustrations and creating vector graphics (trust me, vector graphics is a handy skill to have!), check out some online classes offered by skillshare and Nicole’s Classes. Some design colleges in your local area might offer short courses too!
If you’re good at drawing and comfortable with your lines, you can use your hand-drawn illustrations or lettering, scan them and do some editing on photoshop to “clean them up”. That’s what I did for this printable.
I WOULD LOVE TO START BLOGGING. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR A NEWBIE BLOGGER? IS BEING A BLOGGER WORTH IT?
It is worth it if you enjoy it. Blogging takes a lot of time and dedication, especially if you have a full time job/other jobs that requires most of your time. I blog about design because it is my job, and I research about design all the time, so most of my research becomes my content. All I can say is… you never know until you try!
