On Saturday the 7th, I went to Etsy Craft Party Jakarta #craftpartyjkt hosted by Living Loving Net and Workshop in a Box. Etsy craft party is a worldwide event hosted by local people/community from each country/city. The idea is to bring people together through craft. I actually heard about this event from a friend in Australia who was hosting the Canberra event. Then I found out that my favourite Indonesian craft/design blog, Living Loving Net, is hosting the Jakarta craft party while I’m in town, so… Yay!
I emailed Nike and Mira from Living Loving Net to introduce myself and my brand, Pippa Paper a while ago. Lucky me, they gave me a chance to showcase some of my portrait work during the party.
The event was held at One Fifteenth Coffee in Gandaria. The cafe owner is an ex-Brisbane Indonesian student. It’s no surprise when I saw Flat White coffee and Meringue on the menu. I ordered my usual soy flat white.
Living Loving Net asked me to help them design place card, thank you card and food labels, which I was very happy to do! The beautiful calligraphy names was written by Chia from Workshop in a Box. Workshop in a Box held monthly craft workshops in Jakarta. So Jakarta craft lovers, don’t forget to follow them on instagram! And if you love design blogs like Design is Yay, you should DEFINITELY check out Living Loving Net. You’ll be amazed!
The activity on the day was to create embroidery on a black and white photograph, which then would be sewn on a cloth bag. However, I am not going to show you what I did that day because it was……… really bad. I know it’s kinda embarrassing, knowing that (most) design bloggers are supposed to be crafty and whatnot, but the fact is creativity doesn’t always involve needles and threads. Mine involves pencils, visual diaries and Adobe Illustrator.
As you guys know, all of my DIY and freebies on this blog had never involve any stitching, sewing or knitting. That is because I can’t sew and I don’t like to sew. A button on my shirt fell off the other day and I actually asked my husband to sew it for me… #embarrassing :P
The highlight of the day was the table full of delicious cakes and nibbles. YUM!
Did any of you went to your local Etsy #craftparty ? Share your photos, creations and experiences in the comment! I would love to hear about it :) Especially if you went to the Canberra Craft Party! I’m starting to miss Canberra :(
