Free Printable Recipe Cards (Retro)

Free Printable Recipe Cards by Design is Yay

Besides blogging and creating pretty designs, I enjoy cooking. In fact, I spent 2 years in a cooking school. Unfortunately, being fired from 2 kitchens later due to slow working pace and clumsiness, I decided to be a home cook with my husband as my only customer. My husband can’t fire me because he can’t live without my cooking (or me)!
Recipe cards help me to organize my recipes so that I can always remember the exact ingredients and directions. So I decided to share them with you. Download them, and let’s get cookin’.

The file is a 2 page PDF files with front and back recipe cards. Printing result might vary depending on the paper and printer that you use. I printed mine on a Kodak Premium Matte Photo Paper, using Canon Pixma MG 6250.
For best result, do not print them from Mac Preview. Open with Adobe Reader instead. If you don’t have any you can download it for free here.

Start the New Year with a Blog

Whoop Whoop Bear
by Wita Puspita

In September 2012, I decided to move my blog to the self-hosted WordPress. Then I realized that I knew nothing about designing the blog using the editor. After months of tears and head-scratches, I decided to ask for help from a friend and do a little bit of reading. I finally re-design my blog in conjunction with its new name, Design is Yay! So I’m back, whoop whoop.
I know that in the past I haven’t been blogging regularly. I posted only one or two posts a week at most. I actually have so many things I’d love to share and blog about, so this year I want to make Design is Yay ! a full-time blog. I’ll update the blog daily and try to keep on coming up with exciting posts.
What you can expect in Design is Yay ! in 2013:

  • This blog is still, and will always be focusing on design. The stuff you can expect me blogging about are, but not limited to: graphic design, illustration, paper goods, prints and posters, typography, artists and designers with their amazing work, cool products and shops that sell them.
  • Freebies! Who doesn’t love freebies? I’ll try to post one freebie every week.
  • Other than design, I love going to places and discover interesting places. So whether it’s Canberra, Sydney, other Australian cities or overseas, I’ll share my travel adventures and discoveries.
  • I’m planning to start a new project this year that has to do with Canberra and travel. More details soon!
  • Getting to know more artists and designer. There’s nothing more fulfilling than browsing the internet and find work of an artist or designer that makes me go….. well basically, really excited. I’d love to share their work and get to know them better (not in the creepy stalker way). So if you’re an emerging or established artist who thinks that my blog could be a nice place for you to show off your work, feel free to contact me.

If there’s anything else you’d love to see in Design is Yay, let me know in comments. You might give me a great idea (don’t worry I’ll always remember that you came up with it : D)

So today I officially start Design is Yay!
Oh, and Happy New Year 2013 to everyone!

Printable “Spring Blooms” Bookmark

BY Wita | 04/09/2012 | Cards & Stationery

These couple of days have been warm and sunny in Canberra. I’m glad that Spring is finally here. I just hope it will stay this way, and not go back to the depressing painful cold weather it was.

I’ve been reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. Murakami is probably the only writer whose book I could read and appreciate. I’m not a reader. My mind drifts a lot when I read. I have no patience and tend to skip to the last part to see what happen. Murakami’s books, however, keep me interested. I love how he always begins with really ordinary characters with ordinary situations, and slowly stir up some extraordinary events in their lives. The way he describes the situations, and everything and anything around the characters makes me feel like I’m there experiencing everything.

So I created this Spring Blooms bookmark that would brighten up any book you’ll read this season, and they’re free to download and print for your personal use.

Click the image above to download the file. It’s in PDF file which you should open using Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can download for free from here. Colour might vary on the screen. And I printed mine using Canon PIXMA MG6250 using glossy photo paper. So if you print using different printer and paper the quality might be different too.

Zumbo Land

BY Wita | 03/07/2012 | Travel

I am not a food blogger so I’m not going to review the desserts.

I went to Adriano Zumbo‘s dessert train at The Star last Saturday. As you can see from my photo collage, the theme of the establishment is pretty much what I describe as the bubblegum, neon coloured mini version of Willy Wonka’s factory. I think the colour choices are pretty nice. I’m not really into bright neon colours, but I think what the interior did to this place works pretty well. I love the purple boots windmill.

The interior of this place reflects what Zumbo’s desserts are all about. Quirky and sweet.
